Earlier this spring our very own, Winson Cheung, was honored as the inaugural Libertas Academy Boiling Springs (LABSA) Student of the Year. Adding to this remarkable achievement, we are thrilled to announce that last week Winson was named as the Middle School Student of the Year for the entire school district by the Charter Institute at Erskine. This is a significant accomplishment, as the Charter Institute at Erskine comprises of 27 schools and over 26,000 students from across South Carolina.
The school director of LABSA, Celina Patton, recently shared her excitement over this great accomplishment. "We are incredibly proud to announce Winson Cheung as our Student of the Year. Winson's dedication to academic excellence, leadership, and community service exemplifies the highest standards of our school. His unwavering commitment and passion for learning inspire both his peers and educators. Winson's achievements reflect the values we cherish, and we are excited to see the incredible impact he will continue to make in the future. Congratulations, Winson!"
Winson's classroom teacher, Tessa Porter, echoed a similar sentiment. "Winson Cheung is a remarkable student whose dedication and enthusiasm for learning have set a brilliant example for his peers. His commitment to excellence, both in and out of the classroom, is truly inspiring. Winson's inquisitive nature, leadership skills, and compassion have made him an invaluable part of our school community. It has been an absolute pleasure to witness his growth and achievements. LABSA opened for the first time for the 2023-24 school year and will expand to offer grades 4K-7 for the 2024-25 school year. LABSA will add 8th grade for the 2025-26 school year. At LABSA, students are provided with a challenging, yet supportive learning environment where they are able to meet their full potential. As a public charter school, LABSA never charges tuition.
